HEART MATTER
Heart Matter is a vibraphone-forward indie jazz band, centering dynamic, original music that makes direct eye contact with the human experience. With improvisatory elements of jazz and carefully crafted arrangements, alongside intimate lyrics, Heart Matter is electric and honest; akin to the musical sensibilities of Joni Mitchell, Esperanza Spalding, The Bad Plus, Zero 7, and Steely Dan.
Co-led by vocalist Amy D and vibraphonist Dillon Vado, the two composers share a kinship and collaborative spirit; weaving emotionally-chromatic journeys through song. Vibraphone, electric bass (Lukas Vesely), and drums (Isaac Schwartz) form the sonic palette, setting a potent foundation for powerful, timeless vocals.
More than anything, Heart Matter seeks to share transformative music with those who need to hear it, offering a remedy for the trance of today and a sacred space to feel it all.

MIA PIXLEY
Austin, Texas native Mia Pixley, Ph.D. is a psychologist, composer, performer, conservationist, mother, and water lover who often has more ideas than time. Mia enjoys exploring the resonance between ourselves, the natural world, and the underworld. She has performed on GRAMMY award winning records and alongside GRAMMY award winning artists on stage. Mia delights in interdisciplinary exploration and discovery of all kinds.
