The Dangling Participles are a Lansing-based band with a diverse song set ranging from indie folk and Americana to jazz and pop. The band’s soulful vocals—shared by Tamiko May and Austin Kaufmann—give the group its signature sound, rich in harmonies. Instrumentally, Austin anchors the group on guitar, with Tamiko adding cornet and ukulele.
The band has been performing genre-hopping originals and covers throughout Michigan and the Midwest since 2015. The Dang Ps (as their fans call them) pair their love for songwriting, harmonizing, and arranging with a lively on-stage experience.
Given The Dang Ps will be performing at a library, this duo show will feature an all-original and particularly literary set of songs. Between songs, they'll share anecdotes about the literary inspirations for these songs, tell stories about teaching in classrooms here and abroad, and gush about their favorite authors.
And with a band name like "The Dangling Participles," what's not to love? So invite your favorite Lit prof, language arts teacher, book-lover, and/or anyone who still loves diagramming sentences!
