If you're interested in becoming a Habitat homeowner, you must attend one of the required orientation sessions before applying. They will be held centrally in the county at St. John's Church,
122 W. Ottawa St., Oak Harbor.
Attendance is REQUIRED to apply for a Habitat home.
Two Date Options:
Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 3:00 PM
or
Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 6:00 PM
What You'll Learn:
• How Habitat works and who we serve
• The year-long homeownership process
• Sweat equity requirements (300-500 volunteer hours)
• The mortgage process and what "affordable housing" means
• Required classes & financial readiness steps
Basic Qualifications
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent legal resident
• Must have lived in Ottawa, Lucas, Wood, Erie, or Sandusky County for at least 1 year
• Must not have owned a home in the last 3 years
• Must not have had a bankruptcy or foreclosure in the last 3 years
• Must be willing to partner through volunteering, communication, and required education
Applications will not be accepted from anyone who has not attended an orientation.
