Fourteen-year-old Jean-Pierre Léaud gives a dazzling performance as the rebellious Antoine Doinel, on the run from school and family, in François Truffaut’s masterful directorial debut. The loosely autobiographical film established Truffaut as one of the pillars of the French New Wave.
