About the event

We Grow Colour: Exploring the Language and Stories of Wild Colour
We are so excited to be joined by Ruthie Collins for a day in the garden weaving together the language of wild colour, natural plant dyeing and stories shared round the fire.
This is a chance to gently connect with each other and the beauty of the land. Play with dialogue, heritage and the magic of science, transformation and colour. Dive into legends old and new - including the magical red waters of Norwich. Explore artists working with poetry and fibre art such as Cecilia Vicuña, as a way of weaving intergenerational wisdom and heritage back into the land. And find creative inspiration and spirit in growing a colour garden to restore biodiversity as a gentle and powerful form of climate action.

Words shared can be added as part of a collaborative art piece mapping We Are Colour's journey and celebration of community to be shared in Spring 2026.

Ruthie Collins is an award winning writer and socially engaged artist whose poetry collection Natural Wonder inspires wellbeing for people and planet through participation (featured as an inspirational case study in The Curriculum Compendium published by Bloomsbury 2024). She is also a culture writer. And loves eels.

Ruthie has been participating in We Grow Colour since May 2025 and has been a huge part in making the sessions so special! We are so excited to share this day with you all!

You can find out more about her work at www.ruthiecollins.co.uk.

We will provide a simple vegan and gluten free lunch.

If you would like to book, please head to the link available in the event bio. Everyone needs to fill out a booking form for their first time to this project, even if you have joined us before for another project.

With excitement and magic making energy at the ready,

Shona and Amy
