Come celebrate 2 years of UV Casineros with us on Saturday, September 27th! We are excited to have Diana Ruiz from Despelote Boston in town! She will teach four Cuban dance workshops. Maylena from UV Salsa will also teach a beginner Afro-Cuban dance class at the party!
• 1:00-2:00 pm – intro to son workshop*
• 2:10-3:10 pm – casino workshop* (including musicality)
• 3:20-4:20 pm – rueda de casino workshop* (including structures or dynamic transitions)
• 4:30-5:00 pm – switch class^ (switching between lead and follow roles in casino/rueda de casino)
• *Recommended that you know paso básico/guapea, enchufa, dile que no, exhibe, adentro y afuera, and exhibe; ^switch class participants should know these as both lead and follow
• Cost: $20/1 workshop; $35/2 workshops; $45/3 workshops; $5/switch class
• 5:00-7:00 pm dinner (we’ll try to make a reservation at Little Havana in Hanover – let us know if you’re interested!)
• 7:00-10:00 pm – Cuban dance party, including beginner Afro-Cuban dance class with Maylena (UV Salsa), snacks provided; cost: $10

Diana Ruiz is a Mexican-born dancer, instructor, and choreographer whose love for Cuban music and dance began in Boston, MA, in 2013. She has spent over a decade learning and teaching Casino, Son, and Rueda de Casino.
Diana teaches rueda lessons at Boston Rueda and MIT Casino Rueda during the academic year. During the summer, she helps run Rueda in the Pahk every Sunday at Jill Brown-Rhone Park in Cambridge.
Diana leads Despelote Boston, an intermediate to advanced training and performance group that has performed at events in Boston, New York, and New Orleans.
Her classes are full of energy, laughter, and clever combinations. She loves turning beginners into confident movers and helping seasoned dancers take their skills to the next level. Don’t miss your chance to dance, laugh, and learn with Diana at her workshops here in the Upper Valley!
