Halloween happens organically on Main St in Northfield MA. The Northfield Recreation is just here to supply you with what's going on!:
- The littlest and those who are crowd-avoidant, will find *some* houses on Main St ready to give out candy early (around 5:30pm).
- Then, sponsored by the Northfield VFW, with help from the Northfield Police Department, is the Rag Shag parade for Northfield's kids, beginning at 6pm in front of Town Hall (69 Main St) where the little ghouls walk a short distance to the Northfield Elementary School for a VFW treat (for residents)!
- At that point Trick O Treating has officially begun and goes until about 8pm.
You will want to visit the Boy Scout house next to Town Hall for an extra scary haunted house!
The Northfield Police will be close by giving out goodies!
A well-known (secret?) is to definitely hit the Fire Department for FULL SIZE candy bars!
Then the Community Bible Church holds their Trunk O Treat in the parking area between DVAA and Northfield Auto Body, then get more treats as you head into the Fiddleheads gallery!
Don't forget to get a Halloween gift or treat at the Dickinson Library!
Then, the Northfield Recreation will do online sign up: www.northfieldrec.com for those who want to set up the trunk of their car in the bus loop at the Elementary School for Trunk O Treat! A great opportunity for residents to participate who don't normally get trick-o-treaters at their house. See more details on our website.
IGA and MIMS have candy too!
Then, our most popular sweet business, the Northfield Creamie, will shower you with goodies!
Don't forget after stuffing your face with all that sugar, to stop at the EMS building to get one more treat, and to make sure you didn't overdo it!
If you did overdo it, you might need to circle back to the Centennial House Bed & Breakfast and sleep off your candy buzz... or get MORE candy!
So much fun! 🎃
Public parking can be found behind Town Hall, at the Northfield Elementary School, at MIM'S and IGA and other smaller lots around town.
Need to go? There is a public portable toilet located in corner of parking lot at Northfield Elementary (bring a flashlight)!
The police will be out making sure safety is a priority!
Lastly, the Northfield Recreation Commission, along with an a donation from the Northfield branch of the Greenfield Cooperative Bank, has free bulk candy FOR MAIN ST RESIDENTS ONLY to pick up during business hours at the Dickinson Library the week before Halloween if you need help satisfying the 500+ kids that typically come through! We would love to make participation for you less of a burden financially and have as many Main St houses (between Maple St and the Post Office) to participate!
