On Friday, January 9, 4–8 p.m., the Smith College Museum of Art (SCMA) hosts Second Friday, an after-hours program featuring hands-on art making, gallery talks, refreshments, and extended evening hours. Admission is free and open to all—no registration required. Learn more at scma.smith.edu.
What’s happening:
From 4–7pm Drop in for hands-on art making in the museum atrium All ages welcome.
Craft your own container to hold something precious, inspired by the woven baskets, lacquer boxes, and ceramic vessels on view in Crafting Worlds: Japanese Decorative Arts from the 18th through 21st Centuries.
Play a memory game featuring Japanese ceramics in the SCMA collection, and then go on a scavenger hunt to find these works in the galleries.
From 4–8pm Come in from the cold and enjoy four floors of art
In collaboration with Northampton Arts Night Out, Second Friday at SCMA is an invitation to see the museum in a new light and share the experience with friends and neighbors.
