Autism & Anxiety

Twilight session: 4pm - 5.30pm

Autistic children can seem more anxious than other children, partly due to the world being an uncertain and sometimes unsafe place for them and partly that they experience sensory and emotional experiences differently. This can have a huge impact on their mental health.

This course will examine how anxiety can affect autistic young people, what that might look like in their behaviour and how we can support them to feel safe and manage uncertainty. We will explore co-regulation and self-regulation strategies that can enable them to feel more in control and confident in different situations.
