Shields of the North Part 2 The Two Lights. A game of Dungeons and Dragons.

Shields of the North is an adventure based on the maritime history of North Shields and the treacherous mouth of the Tyne, the scene of many shipwrecks in years gone by.

Participants will be offered character profiles or can bring their own to take in this adventure which will also include some of the mythology associated with the river mouth.

Dungeons and Dragons is a new activity being trialled by the Old Low Light Heritage Centre, inspired by the enthusiasm and expertise of our youngest volunteer, Harry Sowerby.

Having played the game for years, Harry believes that Dungeons and Dragons provides opportunities to inspire imagination and for people of all ages to explore the area’s history.

Should there be sufficient interest in this event, it could be the start of more Dungeons and Dragons events.

Third level characters are needed, and the game will follow the 5th Edition D&D 2014 rules.

Centre director Guy Moody said: “We are very pleased to support Harry with this new activity which could become a regular event at the Old Low Light. It’s part of our efforts to extend our programme to reach people who would like to explore the history of our area in different ways.

“We are grateful to Harry for his enthusiasm in helping to introduce Dungeons and Dragons to the Old Low Light.”
