The Atlantic Beach Gullah Geechee Festival honors the Gullah Geechee people who are descendants of West and Central African enslaved populations who settled along the Southeastern U.S. coast. Through centuries of resilience and isolation, these communities preserved African-inflected language (Gullah), crafts like sweetgrass basket weaving, rice cultivation, music, storytelling, and spiritual traditions.
