14th Annual Shop with a Kappa – Bringing Joy to Las Vegas Families

For 14 years, the Las Vegas Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., together with the Diamond Foundation, has hosted Shop with a Kappa to bring holiday joy to children and families facing food, housing, and economic insecurity. The Diamond Foundation leads the planning, coordination, and fundraising for the event, while the Brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi provide essential volunteer support.

Children are referred through schools, community organizations, and local neighborhoods in need. Over the years, we have supported families connected to Boys Town, Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada, The Shade Tree, multiple Title I schools, various housing communities, and many more.

Since its inception, Shop with a Kappa has supported approximately 1,200 children across the Las Vegas Valley. Families often share how this event eases the burden during the holidays, and many children recognize and thank our members when they see them in the community.

This year, we aim to bring holiday cheer to at least 150 children by providing each with a Walmart gift card to shop for gifts, clothing, and essentials. While we strive to provide every child with a $100 gift card, the final amount depends on fundraising totals.

We believe in transparency and community trust.

98 percent of all funds raised go directly to gift cards for children.
The remaining 2 percent covers small supplies, activities, and keepsakes that help make the day special for participating families.

Businesses, nonprofits, civic groups, and community partners are encouraged to join us. Last year, eight organizations supported as Krimson and Kream Sponsors, and several others volunteered and helped children shop throughout the morning. We look forward to expanding that network of support this year.

Volunteers are essential to creating a warm, welcoming, and memorable experience for families. Community members, students, organizations, and families are invited to assist with check-in, gift shopping, logistics, and family engagement.
