Contoured Pouch Basket with Flower
Description: continue to enhance your weaving skills by making the Contoured Pouch with braided border and flower over weave. The Contoured Pouch basket is made from flat, flat oval and round reed.
This basket is woven on a 10 x 10 handle using a traditional start/stop technique. You will learn how to contour the basket top and after triple twining add a braided border. Once basket is complete, you will add the flower design as an over weave using ¼” flat oval. This is a perfect basket to add a pop of color and style to any room, shelf or to a wall (just add a simple hanger).
Basket dimensions: finished basket size with handle is 4” wide, 6-7” tall (10” with handle) and 10” length.
Costs: $85 including instruction and material fee. Material fee includes reed (natural and dyed), 10x10 D handle, materials lists, rewoven border and flower design patterns and use of instructor tools/supplies.
Skill level: intermediate beginner weaving experience necessary, however, if you have basic basket weaving experience you can complete this basket but may require additional time. You will be working with sharp scissors, students aged 14+ are best. Good hand strength is needed as you will be pulling and holding with a tight grip throughout the basket weaving process. You are using water throughout the weaving process, so wear something comfortable that you will not mind getting a little damp.
