Winter Solstice 2025: Walking with the Spirit of Darkness

On the longest night of the year, we gather to honor the Winter Solstice, the moment when the sun pauses and the earth whispers of renewal. This sacred turning invites us to slow down, rest in the womb of the dark, and welcome the light that waits to return.

From the Blessed Darkness, receive its lessons to embody your True Self and step with courage into the Unknown.

What to Expect

From day into night, we will weave ceremony, community, and reflection:

• Experience an opening ceremony to celebrate the Blessed Darkness
• Journey to ancestors of the land and compassionate spirit beings
• Create prayer-tie bundles to hold your intentions
• Carry a single light in a ceremonial walk through the Blessed Darkness
• Conclude with a warm shared meal, conversation, and blessings from the spirits

Important Details

• Pre-requisite: ability to journey and connect with your compassionate helping spirits
• Activities include multiple shamanic journeys, tying prayer ties, and a silent walk in the dark
• Please dress in layers for outdoor conditions for our silent walk

What to Bring

• Drum and/or rattle
• Eye cover for journeying
• Notebook and pen
• Your lunch
• Dress in layers! We will be walking on a paved path
• Candle or small camping light for the evening walk
• We will be sitting in chairs. If you prefer to sit on the wood floor, feel free to bring blankets and pillows
