This show is presented by the Penguin Project of McLean County - By creating unrestricted access to the performing arts, The Penguin Project® McLean County demonstrates that the special challenges of a disability need not handicap a person’s ability to participate in life’s many experiences. Newsies Jr. is their 15th heartwarming production - in their 16th year in Bloomington Normal. Our penguins may not be able to fly but that does not prevent their spirits from soaring!
When powerful newspaper publishers raise prices at the newsie's expense, the charismatic Jack Kelly rallies newsies from across the city to strike against unfair conditions. Together, the newsies learn that they are stronger united and create a movement to fight for what's right. "Now is the time to seize the day! Stare down the odds and seize the day!"
We will have an ASL interpreter for each performance and the auditorium is accessible, please contact us if you need any other accommodations.
