Join award-winning nature advocate, writer, and conservation biologist Ruby Free for an inspiring talk about her life, work, and passion for the natural world. Based in County Antrim, Ruby has dedicated herself to restoring biodiversity and reconnecting people with nature since the age of 16. Her impact has been widely recognised, earning her a place on the ENDS Power List of the UK’s 100 most influential environmental professionals.
Ruby’s policy work has taken her onto the global stage, including the United Nations Global Plastics Treaty negotiations, where she helped expose corporate polluters undermining environmental progress. She is also the author of the bestselling memoir Rathlin, A Wild Life (Blackstaff Press, 2024), which chronicles her extraordinary time living and working on Rathlin Island. In addition, she writes a regular nature and climate column for The Irish News and co-manages Ballyconnelly Farm with her partner, Craig.
When not writing, campaigning, or speaking, Ruby can often be found exploring the outdoors with her dog Isla, surfing, growing food, or illustrating.
