Info: This presentation will offer an overview of the CAMS framework, emphasizing its philosophy, core clinical components, and evidence base. Application considerations across a variety of settings will be offered.
Info: This session will focus on “flipping the script” - understanding that taking care of yourself is something to add to your “To Do List” and recognizing the significance of proactive versus reactive self-care. The concepts of burn-out and compassion fatigue will be explored, and how to apply preventative care to avoid these pitfalls in the first place. Simple and effective strategies will be presented and practiced to improve long-term well-being. Additionally, participants will briefly explore the eight dimensions of well-being as areas of self-care that foster a holistic approach. The seminar highlights the importance of self-compassion and encourages participants to treat themselves with kindness and understanding, especially during challenging times.
Info: This interactive session will explore how using affirming names and pronouns and understanding the unique needs and identities of LGBTQ+ youth, can reduce suicide risk and improve mental health outcomes. Participants will gain practical tools and insights for creating safer, inclusive environments that affirm and protect queer and trans youth in schools, clinics, and community settings.
Info: This presentation will expand upon the information offered in the initial workshop to discuss additional considerations for applying the CAMS framework across emergency and acute settings. Special consideration will be applied to nuances if limited to 1 or 3 sessions with a client.
Info: This session highlights yoga as a powerful and effective tool for cultivating interoceptive awareness and underscores the vital role of interoceptive awareness in the healing of trauma and mitigation of suicidality. The autonomic nervous system will be reviewed through the lens of Polyvagal Theory and participants will learn how to integrate yoga and the polyvagal framework to enhance embodiment and foster stability through the cultivation of personal agency, distress tolerance and nervous system regulation.
Info: The QPR mission is to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives by providing innovative, practical and proven suicide prevention training. We believe that quality education empowers all people, regardless of their background, to make a positive difference in the life of someone they know. Like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives. This double session will highlight how QPR can be used to support older adults, but the strategies can be applied across the lifespan.
Info: Project Life Force (PLF) adapts two evidence-based treatments, Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills and Suicide Safety Planning into a 10-session group intervention targeting suicidal individuals. The approach leverages group support, and the development of a personalized, detailed suicide safety plan while learning the skills to augment its use. The workshop will describe the development, testing and current implementation of the PLF approach across several populations of high-risk and at-risk populations across both Veteran and civilian treatment settings.
Info: Bringing together an array of experts from various settings, including schools, youth mental healthcare providers, family advocates, and more, the panel will be exploring current trends and challenges in youth mental health, particularly those emerging in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, including increased crisis behaviors among younger populations. The panel will offer an understanding of both clinical and systemic approaches to suicide risk assessment and crisis intervention tailored to children and adolescents. Additionally, they will emphasize the critical role of caregiver involvement and peer-led services in fostering resilience and supporting long-term recovery for youth experiencing mental health challenges. Together, the panelists advocate for a holistic, community-centered approach to youth mental health.
