Beginner Adobe Photoshop Illustrator & Photoshop 2025-2026

The Beginner Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for fashion design Badge (FASH 920) is a 2-week online course that provides training in software prominently used in the design and fashion industries. Skills developed in this course will help students better navigate the two programs, create technical sketches in Illustrator, and learn photo manipulation and layering in Photoshop.  (This is a prerequisite for Advanced Illustrator for Apparel Tech Design and Surface and Print Design)

Through creative projects and exercises, you will build your skills in drawing and design by learning the foundations of these two industry-standard professional tools, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

You will learn various technical skills and how to use digital design tools that will help you become familiar with the basics of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. Gain an understanding of what the tools for each software can do and be able to apply them in assignments.  Projects include basic technical drawings of various garments, colorization, mood boards, and photo manipulation to create a final "Mini Collection" that can be used in the student's portfolio. This course helps lay the foundation for industry-specific software and formatting.   

Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator are very integral to any digital artist's job. Employers looking to hire for any creative position will require Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator proficiency to fill the opening. By earning this certificate, you build the knowledge and skills employers demand and can get a leg up on the competition. 

The Beginner Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop course is $295. It takes just 10 minutes to register online. Admission documents are not required. Students must have access to Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop or Adobe Creative Suite. If you don't have access to this software, you will need to get a student membership which is roughly $20.

Chole Fimlaid has practical textile design experience in various market segments. Chloe started out working at TJX Companies as an Assistant Designer for several years and then as a Designer of Licensed Sports Apparel at Hanesbrands. She currently works for Charles River Apparel as a product manager. Chloe graduated from Lasell University in 2016 Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fashion Design and Production and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Textiles at NC State Wilson College of Textiles.
