Anna and Lev is a one-woman show about the life of Anna Akhmatova and her son Lev Gumilev, their complicated relationship against the backdrop of historical upheaval. To him, she was a mother; to everyone else, she was a great poet.

Svetlana Ustinova plays both roles, transforming the stage into a space for personal confession. It is a story about the desire to be heard by loved ones, about the dialogue that both mother and son sought but never achieved. The play by Svetlana Ustinova and Olga Henkin invites viewers to reflect not only on the fate of the great poet during years of terrible upheaval, but also on the relationship between people who are very close and at the same time strangers to each other.

The premiere of the play Anna and Lev took place in Los Angeles, and it was applauded by audiences in Berlin, Paris, Zurich, Monaco, Riga, and Tallinn.

Svetlana Ustinova is a theater and film actress. She has played more than 50 roles in films and TV series, and from 2017 to 2022 she was an actress at the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater.

Olga Henkina is an author, director, and producer at the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater and the Moscow Theater on Malaya Bronnaya.
