Formed in 2021, Exeter Jazz Orchestra is a dynamic big band based in the heart of Devon. Born out of a desire to bring big band music back to Exeter and a shared passion for jazz - the ensemble quickly established itself as a prominent feature of the local music scene.
EJO brings together a diverse group of talented musicians; from seasoned professionals to rising stars, under the watchful eye of MD and jazz saxist William Paley, all united by their love of the big band tradition. EJO has grown into one of the region’s most exciting jazz ensembles - performing to numerous sell out crowds at festivals, pop-ups and music venues across the South West. With a wide spanning repertoire from golden age big band swing to more contemporary funk & latin, the orchestra aims to deliver seamless performances that both honour the traditions and push its boundaries with a bold attitude to ensemble playing.
