I am plan to offer eight oral history training sessions throughout the Fall of 2025 and into January of 2026.
Due to popular demand and an ever increasing need for us all to preserve the memories and wisdom of our elders, I will be offering once again my two-session course on conducting ‘oral history sessions’ and conduct transcriptions.
There will be two categories of training: “an introduction to oral history” and “all about transcription.” The participants will learn about oral history best practices, what to do before, during, and after interviewing, and the best ways to transcribe.
The Proposed Schedule is as follows:
October 16, "Intro to Oral History" - 6 p.m.
October 23rd “Intro to Oral History" - 6 p.m.
November 6th, "Intro to Oral History" - 10 a.m.
November 20th, "All About Transcription" - 6 p.m.
December 4th, "Intro to Oral History" - 6 p.m.
December 23th, "All About Transcription" - 6 p.m.
January 15th (26) "Intro to Oral History" - 6 p.m.
January 20th, "Intro to Oral History" - 11 a.m.
All sessions will be offered at the Newmarket Library in the ‘boardroom’ with some sessions in the evening and some in the morning. Each session is scheduled to last approximately two hours!
The price will be as follows: Single sessions are $60 and attending both sessions will be $100. All proceeds from the course will be directed to a local charity!
Based on demand and other ‘acts of god’ the dates listed may be subject to change but these are the dates currently reserved with the library!
I have presented this course for years and it usually is quite popular and tends to sell out early!
I personally have been conducting oral history interviews since the 1970's!
I think the boardroom will hold a sufficient number of attendees!

If you think that this course might be of interest to you and yours then I suggest to get your name in early!
Hope to see some of you there!
