Spring has sprung and so has THISISUS; a collective crew of four friends from different ethnicities that came together through a common bond – their love for music!!! It wasn't just their love for music that made them want to start THISISUS. It was the realisation that it's not just the music that makes a great event. It's when all elements align and the music and the moment is not only heard but felt. When the most minute detail can shape the energy of a space, whether that be the lighting, the visuals, the sound, the layout but mostly the people - all with a common bond, just their deep love for music. The intensified state of consciousness kicks in and consequently, people are drawn together and become one. This is why four friends with that common bond created THISISUS!!! And they want to share this experience with you on Friday, 26th of September from 6pm at Bar Romeo, Cooks Hill, Newcastle. And if that’s not one excuse to come down and have some fun, then Eddie, one of the four collective’s is celebrating his 30 + 9 Birthday as well. So come on down to Bar Romeo for an evening of finely curated tunes with an emphasis on house music and all sub-related genres. With a heavily stacked lineup of local and interstate artists, the THISISUS crew will be throwing down a combination of digital and analogue tunes, in an intimate space, with a whopping new sound system and drink specials. But most of all, it will be a great bunch of crew with a deep passion for music!!!

Mr Richards:
Mr Richards is a Melbourne/Naarm based DJ, producer and music enthusiast who has been behind the turntables for well over 20 years. With early influences being musical theatre, his passion and curiosity for colourful and energetic performances started at an early age. His Dj career began in 2001 with the investment in his first set of turntables and his involvement in one of Sydney’s most underground warehouse techno parties, ‘Undercurrents’ in the early 2000’s supporting the likes of Ajax, Simon Caldwell, Zootie, Ken Cloud and Paresis.
He now runs his own night ‘KaPow’, in Melbourne, showcasing established and emerging talent in an intimate setting for extended sets, creating space for acts to experiment with their most personal music and engage in a warm and unique way with audiences.
Mr Richards is a versatile artist when it comes to playing music and in his sets he shares a great variety of styles, with Deep and House tints combined with melodic, organic and minimal sounds. He has supported a plethora of Australian and international artists including Mano Le Tough, Nico Stojan, Josh Baker, Total Eclipse (The X-Ecutioners), The Oddness, Jimmy Edgar, Regurgitator, Blue King Brown, The Cat Empire, Dj Tigerstyle, Ugly Duckling, JPS, Luke McD, Timmus, Charles Eddy, Mad Angel and MaadStork to name a few.

ASH:
Afghani heritage, Iranian born and now living in Newcastle!!! Has Newcastle ever been fortunate enough to have someone with such deep, deep roots grace the presence of the decks down some solid minimal deep tech tunes on a whopping sound system at Bar Romeo (Darby Street, Newcastle) from 6pm on Friday, 26th of September. A lover of minimal deep tech, Ash likes to infuse his sets with global sounds, infusing his sets with elements from different cultures. Drawing inspiration from the likes of djebali, James Dexter ,Christian Bistany, Dyed Soundroom and Putri Mai, Ash has depth, deeply instilled in his roots and musical taste!!! Infuse that with an Allen and Heath Xone 96 Mixer and well, if you’re a lover of minimal deep tech tunes then you’re really in for a treat!!!!
FERGO:
John Fergo’s passion for music has been a lifelong journey, kicking off with metal in his youth, eventually leading him to the hypnotic rhythms of electronic music, that have captivated him over the last decade and a half. Having experienced the sounds and scenes of Ibiza, Berlin, Croatia, the US and of course Australia, although John Fergo’s musical journey has been decades in the making, this sound sensor really is only just getting started. Track selector, groove master, John Fergo’s tunes match his persona – both are highly contagious!!! Already making headway in Newcastle’s underground music scene, Fergo’s music resume is only growing having been invited to play at Box Events, Sol Sounds and Castle del Mar to name a few.
Javier Videla:
It’s rare these days for artists to start off using DJ software, then gravitate and move to analogue. Rare to find, these underground operatives do occasionally exist and come in the form of Javier Videla. Chilean born; Newcastle based. Track selector, analogue mixologist, vinyl by heart, multi-disciplinary by nature!!! Running through his veins are minimal and microhouse, Rominimal and dub techno. Whether it be analogue or digital, expect full-bodied, atmospheric layers and wonderfully drawn-out baselines when Javier steps behind the decks. The Chilean-Novacastrian will be gracing the CDJ’s and Turntables with his presence, so stop on by and let this groove master take you on a rich and deep musical journey.
Yougzee:
A rising force in the Newcastle underground scene, Yougzee is quickly winning over dance floors with his infectious smile and undeniable energy behind the decks. Fresh off sets at Shenanigans, Salt n Sound, Lass Bash, PYN, and Rhythm at Dusk events, he’s back to keep the momentum rolling for THISISUS at Bar Romeo - and trust us, this one’s gonna groove. Blending the deep, rolling textures of tech house, minimal, deep, and funky house, Yougzee doesn’t just play music—he curates a journey. Expect driving basslines, hypnotic melodies, and irresistible rhythms woven together with the precision of a true selector. Influenced by the likes of Mark Knight, Green Velvet, and Carl Cox, his sets are built for movement, connection, and those moments where the music just takes over. He brings an uncompromising approach to mixing, effortlessly shifting between styles while keeping the energy locked in tight. Join us on Friday, September 26th, as Yougzee takes on Bar Romeo where he will be getting that dancefloor jumping.
