About the event

BERO’s LAST RIDE
BERO’s LAST RIDE

Public Tribute Memorial Run
January 2026
Hosted by AMC Coalfields with AMC National Support

This is a public invitation to every rider, every family, every custom car lover and every good human who wishes to honour the extraordinary man, “Bero” Bob Mathews. His legacy lives not only in the hearts of his loved ones but also in the foundations of the motorcycle and social club communities across Australia. This run is for the man he was, the spirit he carried, and the kindness he lived by every single day.

Bero was a son, brother, husband, father, a grandfather, a chosen brother, a mentor, a friend to so many and a quiet leader of the purest kind. He never sought recognition, yet his presence shaped decades of riders, families and communities across Beresfield, the Hunter, Newcastle, the Central Coast and beyond. He lived by truth, loyalty, humour and simple human goodness. His famous reminder to many of us remains the purest message, be kind and treat others how you expect to be treated and be who you are and no one else.

For over thirty five years the Matthews corner shop fed the heart of Beresfield. It supplied families, workers, industrial estates, children, parents and grandparents with groceries, videos, takeaway meals and the daily staples long before supermarkets existed. It was more than a shop, it was a community, a meeting place, a memory for thousands and one of the most loved corner stores of its time with Karen, Bob and Rel at the helm alongside of employing a multitude wonderful staff over the decades. This memorial honour is for that legacy too.

Event Details

The muster point will be released privately to all registered attendees for safety and traffic management. The route will travel publicly through Beresfield in tribute before riding the scenic backroads toward the ceremony location.

Full Throttle Ranch welcomes AMC nationally and respects every social club represented on the day. Food and drinks will be available for purchase afterwards and free camping is available in the upper overflow area by prior registered arrangement. The atmosphere will feel like stepping into Sturgis America, the exact kind of environment Bero loved where people can simply be who they are in unity and freedom among Brothers, Sisters and mixed families of the Biker and Car world.

Why This Matters

Social clubs across Australia, whether on two wheels, four wheels, boats, aircraft or simply on foot, raise millions for charity each year. They hold communities together, uplift families in times of hardship and show that kindness in motion is one of the strongest forces in the world. Bero lived this truth. He led from the shadows. He helped others shine. He loved without condition. He showed that doing good is not about applause, it is about heart and intention.

This tribute also honours the lineage of AMC itself.
AMC stands on the foundation created by our Original National President Graham T(TomHo) and Original First Lady Sue T (Sue). They carried AMC through decades of dedication, leadership, resilience and heart. Without them the chosen family we stand in today would simply not exist as it is today.

AMC continues forward through the leadership of National President and Life Member Mark (Rusty) and Rachel. The new and old leadership combined with decades of AMC roots were lifelong friends and chosen family of Bero.
You cannot choose your blood although you can choose your family.

WHY WE RIDE & DRIVE FOR BERO, FOR EACH OTHER, FOR THE AUSTRALIAN WAY

What you see in these moments isn’t about patches, bikes, or titles.
It’s about people. It’s about mateship. It’s about standing shoulder to shoulder when it matters most.

Bero was a man who quietly lived the values many talk about but few truly carry. Loyalty. Respect. Family, both blood and chosen. No judgement. No ego. Just being there. Always beside.

The images from his private farewell show something deeper than words can fully explain. Men & Women standing together in silence. Hands placed in respect. Heads bowed, hearts heavy, yet strong. A brother carried by brothers. That is the Australian way. That is who we are when it counts.

This is what being Australian means.
Holding the line for your mate.
Showing up without needing to be asked.
Standing together peacefully, safely, and in harmony, regardless of background, label, or walk of life.

Just like the old Diggers said, “Hold the line, brother.”
Not with anger. Not with division. But with unity, humility, and care for one another.
On this event day, we ask everyone to come selflessly.
Not for recognition.
Not for noise.
But to honour a man and the values he represented.
Bikers. Street machines. Families. Friends.
Different rides. Same road. Same heart.

This is bigger than one man, yet born from him.
It’s about remembering who we are right now at our core as Australians.
People who look after each other.
People who stand together when it’s hard.
People who never leave a mate behind.

Always beside

That is Bero’s legacy.
That is the line we hold as Australians.

A line built on mateship, peace, safety, kindness, care, non-judgement, compassion and understanding.
A line where we never leave a mate behind or let them fall alone.
A line that says every person matters, regardless of background, belief, bike, car or walk of life.

This is the Australian way Bero lived by, quiet strength, respect for others, standing tall without standing over anyone, and holding the line so all can live safely and freely on this land together.

In a time when we have seen hurt and division, this day stands for the opposite.
It stands for unity, dignity, harmony and the simple truth that good people, standing together, keep this country strong and human.

That is the way forward.

We will see you all on this special day, where unity is present, hearts are open, handshakes are many, and the spirit of mateship rides strong.
