Civic Park comes alive this summer with a series of free performances of Acquist, a professional outdoor dance work by Catapult Dance Choreographic Hub.
This captivating production weaves together the elements of water, weather, and shifting surfaces, merging them seamlessly with the dancers’ bodies. At moments, the performers appear to walk on water, creating a striking and unforgettable visual experience.
Spread out your picnic blanket, pick up some exquisite cuisine from Darby Street’s restaurants, and lose yourself in Acquist beneath the summer stars.

Each evening begins with popular tunes from Newcastle’s own astonishing performer Zackari Watt, followed by a First Nations performance by Zachary O’Donnell, a proud Gamilaroi Mari man, honouring Country.
An original orchestral score composed by Zackari Watt accompanies the performance, heightening the atmosphere and immersing audiences in the beauty of the fountain surrounds.

To complement the performances, an Artist Talk will be held on Saturday 24 January at 2:00pm at the Newcastle Art Gallery, offering insight into the sculptural brilliance of Margel Hinder and the creation of Acquist.
