Spend a day learning how to use the delft sand casting technique to cast 3D objects in silver.
Bring along one convex object to cast, or cast from a selection of items I have here at the workshop.
Items that cast well are:
Shells, Acorns, twigs (thicker than 2mm), coffee beans, nuts and large seeds (not poppy heads), costume jewellery, small ammonite fossils, decorative buttons, dice, puzzle pieces, or a domino.
There is the option to carve your own wax ring before the workshop, using my wax ring carving kit (click workshops and classes on the main menu to find this).
Workshop time: 9.30am - 2.30pm

We will be using a silver melting furnace and pouring molten silver into our moulds to cast one off items. In small groups of up to four, you will be shown how to cast an object then clean up your piece, then turn it into finished jewellery. Skills used will be sand casting, sawing, soldering, drilling and different polishing techniques. This workshop is suitable for beginners or those wanting to improve their skills.
Silver is on top of the workshop day price and will need to be paid for on the day. This can range from £20 - £85 depending on the size and weight of what you make.
If you have any old silver jewellery, or silver scraps, you are very welcome to bring them along to melt down.
Tea, coffee and biscuits provided.
You will need to bring a packed lunch.
