Pruning Workshop

Pruning Workshop with Martin Hayes on February 21st - 1pm start finish 4pm.

The Forest Garden will be open for normal visiting and volunteering tasks from 10am. Lunch time is 12.00 – 1pm bring your own lunch. Tea, coffee & cake provided.

The pruning workshop is Free for volunteers of Naturewise otherwise a donation of £20.00 is requested. Martin Hayes is a distinguished teacher and has immense experience over many years. A must short course for anyone longing to know how to prune.

You will learn the kinds of shape you are helping the tree to create, and this will help you understand the pruning methods.

Last year we had a most wonderful time with Martin. The depth of his knowledge and experience seemed bottomless. After sometime in a ‘classroom’ environment where Martin explained and demonstrated the basics and theory of pruning we moved into the Forest Garden. Here Martin showed us the practicalities of how to prune while telling us all his thought processes while working on several apple trees. We then split up into small groups to tackle more of the trees; where Martin would come and supervise when we asked for help.

It was a fun and productive day: we learned so much that our brains were overflowing. We are so pleased to have him back at Naturewise once again.
