This continuing education course is designed for pediatric
physical therapists seeking to enhance their clinical
decision-making and implementation strategies regarding
specialized equipment use in pediatric populations.
Grounded in current research and evidence-based
practice, this course provides an in-depth exploration of
the types, functions, and clinical applications of commonly
used pediatric equipment—including standing frames, gait
trainers, mobility aids, and positioning devices.
Taught by physical therapists and durable medical
equipment experts, this course includes:
-Hands on opportunities to see and work with
standers, gait trainers, mobility aids, and positioning
devices
-Evidence-based strategies to match equipment to
patient needs
-Detailed descriptions of the interdisciplinary process
of evaluation, funding and procurement of specialized
equipment
-Practical strategies for implementation, dosing,
progression, caregiver training, and outcome
monitoring with equipment use.
By the end of this course, participants will be equipped
with the knowledge and tools to advocate for, select, and
implement appropriate equipment that maximizes
independence and participation for pediatric patients
across diverse settings.
