What Is a Quarter Auction and How Does It Work?
A quarter auction is part raffle, part auction, part fundraiser. It works a bit like bingo. When you arrive, you
will be able to purchase a numbered bidding paddle for a donation of 20.00 at the door. Or $35 for all access and no quarters needed.This paddle will have a corresponding numbered ball which will be put into the drawing basket. All of the auction items will be on display for about an hour when the doors open at 5:00 So you can see what will be up for auction and decide which items you're interested in. The auction will begin around 7:00 Once the auction begins, the announcer will hold up an item that's up for bid and will announce whether the item is a "one quarter" or "two quarter", 3-4 quarter bid. (For items that are a “4 QUARTER BID” we will let you use a $1.00 bill so that you can save your quarters to bid on the lower bid items). If you're interested in bidding, you'll put your quarters (whatever bid was announced) into the cup when the kids come around to collect the quarters for each item. You are allowed to buy more than one paddle to increase your chances of winning if you wish, but you must then pay the bid amount of each item PER PADDLE, for example if the item is a “1 quarter” bid and you want to bid with both paddles then you'll put .50 in the cup and raise both of your paddles. If you have two paddles and decide to only bid with one, you will only pay .25 in the cup. The announcer will then draw a number to find a winner. If they draw your number and you had bid on the item, hooray! You just won an awesome item at a great price! If they draw your number and you did NOT bid, just call out "no bid!" and they'll continue to draw numbers until they find a winner. Everyone will also receive a free ticket for a chance to win one of our 3 door prizes and there will tickets available for purchase for a raffle drawing for 2 large gift baskets full of bath and body type items and a 50/50 drawing. Tickets will be $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00
(YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN for all of the drawings and the 50/50!!!) Those drawings will take place at the end of the auction!!!
PLEASE BE SURE TO BRING QUARTERS!!!, but if you forget or
run out, there will be LIMITED rolls of quarters available for purchase at the event. If it all sounds complicated, relax. Everything will be explained again once you get to the auction, and you'll catch on in no time and you'll love it!
