The Drama Book Shop presents, in association with Jay Michaels Global Communications, Uncovering Your True Voice: A Practical Guide for Singers and Teachers- A talkback, signing and live podcast recording.
About the Book
This book is not intended as a scientific study of the mechanisms of singing. Nor is it intended to be a substitute for the pedagogical information of which every singer and singing teacher should have a basic grasp. Rather, it is intended as a guide to the day- to-day processes of selecting, creating and memorizing energies and sensations that comprise the art of singing.
About the Author
Carolyn Marcell Elmore has had an extensive career as a professional performer, as well as a decades-long career as a voice teacher. In both areas of Carolyn’s work, she has crossed the traditional lines of musical styles, moving fluidly across the worlds of opera, classical concertizing and the musical theatre arena. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Marymount College and a Master of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music. She taught voice at Marymount College for 13 years, at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, for three years, and has been a member of the voice faculty of the University of Miami’s Department of Theatre Arts since 2013. She’s also taught musical theatre classes at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC for three consecutive summers and Master Classes at Seagle Music Colony in Schroon Lake, NY, for six years.
Carolyn has performed on opera, concert, and musical theatre stages around the U.S. and Europe. In addition to Carolyn’s university instruction, she maintained a private voice studio in NYC for decades, teaching professional singers, actors, and dancers from every musical and theatrical discipline. She's thrilled to have recently returned to her private NYC instruction.
Carolyn’s performing and teaching background has offered her the opportunity to author a book for other teachers, as well as voice students of all levels: Uncovering Your True Voice: A Practical Guide for Singers & Teachers.
