The Woke Experience: One Man. One Stage. One Unapologetic Voice, D'Whit takes the stage in an intimate 65 seat theater as he portrays multiple characters to share his evolution through difficult chapters of his life while living as a black man in today's America. Also featuring his original hip hop and gospel infused music, D'Whit opens the door to his most intimate thoughts and revelations while combining theatrical storytelling, rap, video imagery and spiritual insight in a performance that is both compelling and unforgettable.

The term "Musical Poet" means to narrate stories or poetry accompanied by music.

After a 4 year hiatus from performing on a theater stage, Audelco Award nominated playwright, producer, director and musical poet D'Whit is returning with his bold and powerful one-man theatrical show, The Woke Experience: One Man. One Stage. One Unapologetic Voice.

MEET PLAYWRIGHT, PRODUCER, DIRECTOR AND MUSICAL POET

Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, D'Whit relocated to New York City and got his big break by being a background dancer turned choreographer for platinum r&b artist JOE from 1998-2001. D'Whit has since choreographed and/or toured with artists TLC, Usher, Destiny's Child, Britney Spears, En Vogue and Deborah Cox to name a few. He was also a dance consultant for Ice T's Rap School in the mid 2000s for its' pilot season on VH1 Television, as well as he was the choreographer and dancer for “The Ed Lover” talk show pilot for VH1 Television. D'Whit's first musical staged production was called “Ghetto Chronicles” written, produced and directed by himself ran in off broadway theatres from 2006-2022. It received nominees for “Best New Musical” (Audelco Awards 2006) and “Musical of the Year” (Play Awards 2020). After 3 ½ years away from the theatre stage, he is returning with his “one man show” called “The Woke Experience" and will be debuting on October 11 2025. To add to his vast array of talents, D'Whit is also currently hosting an online entertainment show called ”Urban on Stage" which is streaming now on the Theater Live Channel as well as being requested to guest host for other filmed and “live” staged shows.
