THE LYSISTRATA PROJECT OR NO WOMB LEFT BEHIND

The Lysistrata Project or No Womb Left Behind is P. Seth Bauer's adaptation of the ancient Greek comedy Lysistrata by Aristophanes. The story presents the unfolding of a bold and clever plan devised by the protagonist, Lysistrata, to end the political and medical oppression of women in New Athens by its male senators. Lysistrata bands together the women of Greece to withhold sex from their husbands until the men agree to renegotiate the "No Womb Left Behind Act", which was recently passed to impede women's access to birth control. The diverse group of women are initially reluctant, but eventually join forces to occupy the Acropolis (Capitol) and take control of New Athens.

Bauer's use of modern language draws timeless parallels to our society's relationship to female power and governments' prioritization of conflict over peace. The use of raunchy humor and sexual politics makes The Lysistrata Project both a wildly funny show and a sharp satire, appealing to modern audiences with its boldness and authenticity.
