The Gatekeepers Collective invites you to gather for an evening at Harlem Stage’s Gatehouse to experience Freedom Riders: A Journey with No End in Sight. This groundbreaking theatrical concert reading fuses urgent first-person testimony with live music to confront the ongoing realities of racial injustice, Black Trans lives under threat, and systemic violence—while lifting up resilience, resistance, and hope.
We will meet in the lobby at 6:30 PM to connect before the performance. Curtain is at 7:00 PM.
About Freedom Riders
Inspired by 12 Angry Men: True Stories of Being a Black Man in America Today (The New Press, 2012) and first staged by The Billie Holiday Theatre in 2015, this 10th-anniversary production has been reimagined and expanded. Directed by Indira Etwaroo and featuring a renowned cast (Lisa Arrindell, Russell Hornsby, Billy Eugene Jones, Angelica Ross, Stephen Tyrone Williams) alongside a live score by Arden Altino, Daniel Bernard Roumain, and Divinity Roxx, the piece is part of a national tour retracing the Great Migration, culminating in Harlem.
