Bootleg Dan Presents Stupidity Live at The Parkside Lounge

Stupidity returns to the US and play The Parkside Lounge in New York City with our friends The Cynz and Palmyra Delran & The Doppel Gang!

Stupidity

Garage-rockers from Stockholm, Sweden. The band has recently been working on recording songs for a cover-album, starting with the new digital single “Spread It Around” which will be released on Wicked Cool Records on August 8th. With the release the band will tour in Sweden, and also go back to the USA for a tour on the east coast in late October.

Their latest single “Cheap Thrills” is from their 2024-album (AI-Alternative Intelligence). The song is a straightforward kick-ass rocker. It sets off from the sixties with an updated sound which is the trademark for Stupidity, live as well as on record, being inspired by bands like The Kinks, The Sonics and The Hives.

Just when the Covid-19 pandemic hit Sweden in March 2020 Stupidity reformed the line-up. The former members Tommy Boy Sjöström (drums) and Erniz Lundqvist (lead vocals) were joined by Janne Vierth on guitar/vocals and Ulrika Wennström on bass/vocals. They continued an earlier collaboration with Keith Streng, guitarist from the legendary American garagerockband The Fleshtones.

The first release from the new line-up was the single “Stupid Like Me” in June 2021. The band has from September 2021 started collaboration with Boston based label Red on Red Records which began with the single and video “Magical Girl” that was followed by the other singles “Waking Up The Band” and “On The Run”. Waking Up The Band is the title of the full length album released by Red on Red Records in December 2021 and also on vinyl in 2022.

Stupidity’s music has been featured on the soundtracks to Season 2 & 3 of the TV Series Lilyhammer starring Little Steven Van Zandt. The band itself was featured in a Season 3 episode of Lilyhammer while performing their single “King Midas”. Stupidity also has several songs that got the award “Coolest Song In The World” on Little Steven radio channel The Underground Garage. Between 2007 and 2017 Stupidity recorded and released four CD: s, one compilation, two singles and two two-song EPs.

The Cynz
From New Jersey (US) are a full-throttle rock band formed around the songwriting talents of poet Cyndi Dawson (voc) and Henry Seiz (gtr/voc). The band has been called "the closest thing to the 1970's CBGB's you will get from a band that formed in 2011." Their songs are hard-rocking tales of heartbreak, survival, determination, redemption, and sometimes unbridled joy at break-neck speed!!!

Cyndi Dawson is a visual on-stage tsunami period. She leads the band through shamanic rock & roll rites of passage. Her raw, emotional presence along with the bands edgy, powerful vibe is truly an experience. The Cynz' influences derive from the late '70s Lower East Side NYC chainsaw music of The Ramones and the tough, gritty vibe of The MC5, Alice Cooper and Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels.
The Cynz have been honored with top ten songs across multiple charts from New York City to Los Angeles, Australia, UK and Japan and been enjoying increasing radio play over the years from college to satellite to Internet across the globe.

PALMYRA DELRAN & THE DOPPEL GANG
Palmyra Delran is an American rock and roll musician, songwriter, guitarist and producer who was born in Princeton, New Jersey. and later moved to Philadelphia. She played in seminal 1990s Philadelphia-area rock bands The Friggs and Pink Slip Daddy, as well as several of her own solo releases and recordings.
Little Steven Van Zandt was a reported fan of Delran's previous band, the Friggs, and attended their 2008 NYC reunion show.

After striking up a conversation with Palmyra, he learned of her new six-track solo EP She Digs the Ride. He added it to the Little Steven's Underground Garage playlist, picking "Baby Should Have Known Better" as a "Coolest Song in the World This Week", followed by radio listeners voting it "Coolest Song in the World" for 2008, which gained Delran considerable attention for her efforts.

The EP was followed up in 2013 with You Are What You Absorb, Delran's first full-length solo effort. The album included the single "You’re My Brian Jones", featuring a music video directed by Daniel Henry, and shot on location in Nashville. Little Steven continued his support of Delran's work, voting "You're My Brian Jones" his No. 1 song of the year. In 2013, the songs "Shy Boy" and "Some Day Soon" ranked among favorites on Steven's and many Underground Garage DJ lists. Steven also voted the full album You Are What You Absorb as the No. 3 best record of 2013.

Delran tours the East Coast, Scandinavia, and the West Coast each year, and released a new single in spring/summer of 2014, "Run Now Baby" b/w "Yeah Yeah Yeah." The single was recorded in LA with Dave Klein & Bubble Gun, and features special guest Kim Shattuck from the Muffs.
