Reclaiming the Legacy: Inclusivity and the Future of the Farm Bill
Let's come together to discuss how we can make the Farm Bill more inclusive and shape a better future for all.

About this Event

Event Overview

Join America the Beautiful for All Coalition as we unveil our vision for how Farm Bill investments in soil health, climate resiliency, and water stewardship can be channeled to support underrepresented private and tribal landowners who are the frontline stewards of our nation's working lands. Leaders from the Coalition’s legacy lands workgroup will share how they’re working to center the diverse perspectives of Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) as well as women farmers and landowners at a time when acknowledging these different lived experiences is under attack.

Hospitality

The Doris Duke Foundation will offer the opportunity in the lobby to mingle with light bites before and after the event. Grab-and-go wraps and other appetizers will be served.

Why should you join us for NYC Climate Week?

When more of us uplift compelling and historically underheard voices in private lands stewardship, more Americans will embrace our role to play in the powerful natural climate solutions that private landowners can deliver.

Your presence will contribute to our collective strength to defend against the erasure of the cultures and traditions of diverse communities that live close to the land. For decades, private land conservation incentives have mostly benefited wealthy privileged landowners, helping preserve important biodiversity and eventually creating more public recreation opportunities. But American communities’ relationships with land is about more than soil, water, plants, and critters; we are also deeply affected by unique cultures, histories, and lived as well as earned experiences. Together, we can educate our communities and policymakers about national policy, especially Farm Bill conservation incentives, which has often left out frontline communities who face barriers to land ownership.

Come build a working relationship with our Coalition leaders who are counteracting federal policy that has historically and deliberately shifted away from recognizing those who have historically been excluded from conservation incentives.

About the America the Beautiful for All Coalition and the Legacy Lands Workgroup

The America the Beautiful for All Coalition is the largest, most representative community that works to save nature while upholding environmental justice and public health. Our Legacy Lands workgroup convenes landowners who have a direct stake in gathering the resources necessary for sustainable land stewardship.
