Kudo is a modern combat sport with roots in the Japanese ‘Budo’ arts. Known as Daido Juku (‘the great way’), Kudo is a fully integrated fighting system designed for realistic combat and competition.
In this workshop, we'll cover:
• Rules and objectives for Kudo competition
• Fundamentals of Kudo striking
• Integrating the Gi in combatives
• Clinch transitions: Creating opportunities with head-butts, knees and elbows
This workshop is led by Sensei Jim. Jim is the Kudo International Federation’s (KIF) regional branch chief for the East Coast US. He holds multiple black belts, a purple belt in BJJ, a doctorate and is an experienced corporate facilitator and trainer.
The workshop welcomes all skill levels but is designed for those interested in adding breadth to their existing training.
Early sign up is appreciated. Please arrive 10 minutes early.
What To Expect:
This introduction will give you a taste for the sport and expose you to some of the fundamentals of Kudo combat. The workshop will focus on exposure to new aspects of combat and developing fight IQ through combat based games.
Kudo IS a contact sport. You will work hard and there will be unavoidable person to person contact.
What To Wear:
Please bring all the gear that you have.
• Mouthguard
• Water bottle
• Sweat towel
• Groin protector
• Uniform / Gi (colour or sport doesn’t matter)
• MMA gloves (4oz or 7oz are perfect)
• Shinpads
If you are missing something, that’s OK. Please let us know and we can likely lend it to you for the day.
We will bring helmets to lend and for purchase.
