It’s December and already we’re in the cold, dark — temperatures dropping, ICE raids on our neighbors, folks sheltering outside, short days and long nights. But wherever there is darkness, there's also light.
In the Care Cafe on December 16, we will be looking to uncover the light in the darkness and brighten our own internal stars. We will be seeking out the light-hearted, the warmth of chosen family and comrades, and the guiding light of our values and solidarity.
Join us for some warm beverages and conversation about how to keep our spirits up and the collective strong when the world goes dark. Bring a friend, some ideas for the Solstice, some food to share or food to donate. Or just COME and hang out! There will be activities involving STARS!
A Care Café asks us to turn up as we are, with no specific agenda, expectation, or discussion topic, simply asking the question: How can we maintain an attitude of care in an uncaring world?
Set up like a conventional café with small tables and chairs, the Care Café acts as a temporary venue for community and conversation with some simple table activities set up within a framework of care. Just by entering the room, we acknowledge something of our own needs in the present moment and our desire to give and receive care.
You can RSVP with La Mama to let us know you are coming, but you can drop in anytime between 5-7 pm.
