About this Event

Gastón Frydman, born in Argentina in 1996, is “a pianist of exceptional talent and artistry… a true master and a giant at the keyboard” (From Paradise to You). He has performed across the Americas, Europe, and Asia in prestigious venues such as Teatro Colón, the CCK National Auditorium (Buenos Aires), Solís Theater (Montevideo), Bösendorfersaal (Salzburg), Laudon Palace ( Vienna), Gartner Auditorium (Cleveland), Greenfield Hall (New York), Steinway Hall (Tampa), Teatro Ristori (Verona), Teatro Municipal (Asunción), and Teatro Jofre (Ferrol).

Frydman is a two-time recipient of the Stimulus Prize from the Musical Critics of Argentina Association (2018, 2023) and has been awarded the Porak Scholarship from the Mozarteum Argentino (2018–2022), the Carmi Scholarship at the Cleveland Institute of Music (2023), and the Schönberg Scholarship at the Manhattan School of Music (2024). He is a member of the MUCHIMUSIC artist roster and an in-demand private teacher.

He has appeared at major festivals such as Gabriela Montero at Prager, PianoFest in the Hamptons, Piano Cleveland, Mozarteum Argentino, Chopiniana, the Internationale Sommerakademie Mozarteum Salzburg, Vienna International Music Institute, Verona Virtuosi, and the Semaine Internationale de Piano et Musique de Chambre Blonay.

As a soloist, he debuted with Beethoven’s Fifth Piano Concerto under Nathalie Marin at Teatro Colón and has since performed with major orchestras across South America, including Rachmaninoff ’s Fourth Piano Concerto with the Asunción Congress Orchestra under Sánchez Haase, Golijov/Grau’s Nazareno with the National Symphony Orchestra under Gustavo Fontana, and Schumann’s Concerto with the National Youth Symphony Orchestra of Argentina under Pablo Boggiano. Dedicated to contemporary music, he has premiered works with ensembles such as Invasión and the CIM New Music Ensemble.

As a chamber musician, Frydman has collaborated with Konstantin Soukhovetski, Yaron Kohlberg, Arseniy Gusev, Rafael Gintoli, and NY Philharmonic members Alina Kobialka and Muyan Yang.

He has participated in masterclasses with Arie Vardi, Alessio Bax, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Pinchas Zukerman, Bruno Gelber, Dina Yoffe, Pavel Nersessian, Paul Schenly, Edith Fischer, Emmanuel Pahud, Milana Chernyavska, Naum Grubert, Nelson Goerner, Peter Nagy, Roustem Saitkoulov, Ilya Kaler, Sharon Robinson, and Jaime Laredo.

Frydman studied in Argentina with Edda María Sangrígoli, Pía Sebastiani, and Diego Prigollini, and trained in conducting and analysis with Guillermo Scarabino.In 2018, he moved to the United States at Sergei Babayan’s invitation, to study with Antonio Pompa-Baldi at the Cleveland Institute of Music, earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees with honors, as well as a Piano Pedagogy Diploma.

Now based in New York City, he is pursuing a Professional Performance Diploma at the Manhattan School of Music as one of two students of Maestro Horacio Gutiérrez. He is also a three-time fellow of the Gabriela Montero Piano Lab Artist Diploma, and co-founder and artist-in-residence of Room of Wonders, A concert series dedicated to presenting new music in response to global injustices while offering a profound artistic experience.
