Fall NYC Warm Data Lab

Now more than ever our communities are divided and polarized. The possibilities for people to respond to events of the polycrisis depend upon their ability to improvise and learn together within their complexity.

While there are no straightforward solutions to our collective problems, when we pay attention to our senses, our relationships with one another, and our curiosity, the difference between how things combine within you and how they combine within me allows for new collective perceptions to emerge. One way to tend to this ability to commune is through the Warm Data practices.

What is a Warm Data Lab?

Supported by the work of The Bateson Instatue & Nora Bateson, Warm Data Labs are like the best after-dinner conversations you’ve ever had, with people you may have never met. Participants share their stories and observations about a common question, moving between small groups and inside conversations to explore their perspectives from multiple viewpoints such as family, health, economy, and others. Everyone moves whenever and wherever their curiosity takes them, listening to each other and often sharing whatever occurs to them. At the end, we come back together as one group and share what we’ve noticed, weaving together the sense we’ve been making.

These experiences have been described as a “kaleidoscope of conversation,” packed with enriching stories, laughter, and insight. The experience may nourish the soul, transform our approach to work, life, and community — and, ultimately, open new possibilities that can't be predicted.

In this time of accelerating change as an antidote to urgency, we offer space to gather, wonder, and tune into each other, a space for new possibilities to emerge.

When is it?

The gathering will begin at 3:00 PM. We will promptly serve Warm Data at 3:15 PM, finishing around 5:00PM. Light refreshments will be offered. And there is an open invite to join for a meal at a local restaurant if you would like to continue the conversations.

Easily Accessable via LIRR, Metro North & NJ Transit,
The space is located in Port Authority Bus Terminal, 625 8th Ave, New York, NY 10018. Enter Port Authority's south wing, between 40th & 41st Street, and take the escalator up to the second level. The ChaShaMa space is between Dunkin’ Donuts and McAnn’s Pub.

You will be welcomed by Warm Data hosts Tara Quinn and Yvan Greenberg. Bring your curiosity, open mind, open heart, and perhaps a friend. Everyone is welcome.
