Located in New Smyrna Beach just south of the Ponce Inlet lighthouse this 2.5 mile boardwalk accessible trail offers views of sand dune habitat, the Ponce Inlet light house and the Indian river and Atlantic coast line. Lots of coastal wildlife such as tortoises and birds abound. Plus with direct beach access you don’t know what may swim by in the ocean including us! We can take a dip following the hike for those planning to stay into the afternoon for a swim.
*Terrain*: The elevation of the trail is pretty flat and is full sun. There is less than 36 foot elevation of the recycled wood boardwalk overall. It is supposed to be pretty accessible including a 300 ft fishing pier.
*Admission*: $10 one time park pass or you can get an annual pass for $20 here:
http://parkvolusia.org/ and two bottles of water for your hydration.
*Pets*: No dogs are allowed on the boardwalk after 10 AM but we should be done long before then, However, they do have a dog beach available if you are interested.
*Fishing*: You must have the correct FWC license to fish in this park. Access to brackish and salt water from this park.
*Accommodations*: The park does have pavilions first come first served.
What do you need to bring with you:
-Comfortable shoes for walking, i default to hiking boots almost always.
-two 16 ox bottles of water
-Sun protection ( hat, sunglasses, Sunscreen for exposed skin.
-swim suit, towel
-any snacks you desire to consume
