Not a member of Community Service Council of West Pasco, Inc.? No problem! Please consider becoming a member and attend our next meeting on October 9th at 11:30 a.m. at Seven Springs Golf and Country Club, 3535 Trophy Blvd., Trinity FL, to hear Jeff Skowronek, Executive Director, Pepin Academies.
A native of North Woodmere, Long Island, New York, Jeff Skowronek received his bachelorβs degree from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell in 2000 and was named Distinguished Baccalaureate Alumnus in Psychology at that institution in 2008. Dr. Skowronek received his M.A. in 2002, his MST in 2005, and his Ph.D. Developmental Psychology in 2005 all from the University of New Hampshire. He currently is the Executive Director of Pepin Academies, which are independent, public charter schools in Hillsborough and Pasco County, serving students with learning and learning-related disabilities. Prior to taking on this role, he was a tenured Associate Professor of Psychology at The University of Tampa for 13 years.
Prior to his current role as Executive Director, he served both Pepin Academies schools and the Pepin Academies Foundation as chair of both boards. Currently, he serves on the Education Committee for the Patel Conservatory/Straz Center for Performing Arts. He is the immediate past president of Charter School Leaders, Inc., an advocacy group for independent, public charter schools in Hillsborough County. In 2021, he was appointed to State Advisory Panel on Exceptional Student Education by Florida Department of Education Commissioner.
As both a Developmental Psychologist and Executive Director, he believes all children should be afforded certain rights, to food, shelter, emotional support, and the best education possible to learn in ways that maximize their true potentials. As Executive Director, he has spearheaded construction projects at Pepin Academiesβ Riverview and New Port Richey campuses. This has allowed for improved facility spaces, and over a 10% growth in student enrollment. His focus on workforce education has resulted in an increase in career-related courses throughout all campuses and an almost 250% enrollment increase for Pepin Academiesβ Transition Program, a workforce education program for students 18-22 years of age. He helped secure a $250,000 grant from a national charter funding group to lead the reorganization of Pepin Academies administrative structure. This reorganization advanced a unified leadership group of the schools to oversee all campuses. Utilizing a bottoms-up approach, via the creation of the Pepin Academies Collaborative Group, they have advanced a more cohesive operation that provides consistency in the Pepin Academiesβ model and ensures the model is delivered with fidelity, which has led to be recognized as a βSystem of Distinctionβ by the regional accrediting body, Cognia.
