SYNOPSIS
From Mischief, Broadway masters of comedy, comes the smash hit farce. Welcome to the opening night of the Cornley University Drama Society’s newest production, The Murder at Haversham Manor, where things are quickly going from bad to utterly disastrous. This 1920s whodunit has everything you never wanted in a show—an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead, and actors who trip over everything (including their lines). Nevertheless, the accident-prone thespians battle against all odds to make it through to their final curtain call, with hilarious consequences! Part Monty Python, part Sherlock Holmes, this Olivier Award–winning comedy is a global phenomenon that’s guaranteed to leave you aching with laughter!

WHO CAN AUDITION?·
Ages 16+ only· No prior experience required· All ethnicities, identities, and backgrounds encouraged
· This is a volunteer, non-paid performance opportunity.
AUDITION PREP·
If you are actor who believes that reading is not a strength, please prepare a 2–3 minute comedic monologue. The monologue is requested BUT NOT REQUIRED. We want to get a more complete picture of you as an actor.
· There will be readings from the play. First come, first seen.· Wear comfortable clothes and shoes you can move in.
· Headshot & resume encouraged (not required).

REHEARSALS & TECH WEEK
· Rehearsals begin Monday, September 22, 2025 (3-4 days per week, based on cast & venue availability). Rehearsals will be in the evening.
· Mandatory Tech Week & First Weekend: November 9 - 16, 2025 (full attendance required)
· Additional promotional appearances may be scheduled prior to performances.
THE CHARACTERS: As with any play-within-a-play, there is the complication of the characters of the actors DOING the play-within-a-play and the characters IN the play-within-the-play. To try to make it simpler, what is listed first is the members of the Cornley Drama Society. Then, it is the character they are playing and that character’s description for The Murder at Haversham Manor.
ANNIE – the company’s stage manager. American accent.
STAGE CREW – the Cornley Drama Society stage crew.
TREVOR – the company’s lighting and sound designer. American accent.
CHRIS – is the head of the drama society, directed the play, and plays Inspector Carter (an esteemed local inspector)
JONATHAN – plays Charles Haversham (the deceased)
ROBERT – plays Thomas Colleymoore (Charles’ old school chum)
DENNIS – plays Perkins (Charles’ butler)
MAX – plays Cecil Haversham (Charles’ brother) AND Arthur the Gardener (the gardener of Haversham Manor)
SANDRA – plays Florence Colleymoore (Charles’ fiancé and Thomas’ sister)
