Inspired by James Bridle’s keynote, this in-person tech-shop offers a playful, hands-on encounter with machine intelligence. Facilitated by technologist Ankit Mishra, participants will experiment with tools like ChatGPT and open-access AI platforms to explore storytelling, code, language, logic, and the boundaries of intelligence.
Rooted in the festival theme Participation as Creation, this session invites you to learn through doing—whether through writing, coding, prompting, or provoking. It is a space to test ideas, ask big questions, and co-create with the machine as both mirror and material.
Participants must bring their own device with internet access and an active ChatGPT account.
Purchase a single event ticket for $10 or $20 for a bundle with Rethinking Ecological Intelligences with James Bridle event.

ABOUT THE STORY WORLDS FESTIVAL
Story Worlds is a new festival that invites audiences to experience storytelling as a rich, interconnected practice—through the written word, material culture, and oral traditions. Explore the programme, which stretches across Puke Ariki Museum, Libraries, and the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery | Len Lye Centre for four days of sessions that celebrate storytelling in all its forms and honour the ways stories help us make sense of ourselves, each other, and the world we share.
The Gallery is set over a number of levels, which are connected by ramps, stairs and an elevator. All spaces and facilities are mobility-friendly. We have manual wheelchairs available for use while at the Gallery, and mobility spaces available in the Len Lye Centre Cinema.
