Why do the leaves of some trees turn spectacular colors in the fall while those of other trees don’t?
What does it mean when leaves of a tree turn red, while others turn orange, or gold, or just go brown?
Join WVLT Board member Dr. William Schuster on Saturday, October 18 at 10 am for a discussion on how and why leaves turn colors.
Following the presentation we will hold a walk and talk with Dr. Schuster and Certified Arborist Erik Richards around the Historic Huguenot Street grounds and part of the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail to see firsthand the colorful evidence of how different trees prepare for winter.
NOTE, there is a $5 RSVP fee that is a donation to WVLT to help with our stewardship work.
Meet at 10 AM in the Education Building for the presentation, then bring your tree questions out for a stroll which will end back at the Education Building around noon. Rain date will be on Saturday October 25, also at 10:00.
