The Faubourg Marigny goes native!
We're going all in on native plants to help support healthy ecosystems.
We are partnering with the Native Plant Initiative of Greater New Orleans for a native plant propagation workshop next Saturday, September 20, from 9:00am to noon at St. Paul Lutheran Church in the Faubourg Marigny!
They will teach us how to ethically collect and propagate native seeds to increase biodiversity and green spaces, one block at a time.
This event is open to everyone, members and non-members alike! Feel free to bring any native plants or seeds you'd like to share.
Here's the plan:
9:00-10:30 am | Take an urban nature walk with NPI Board Member and FMIA social media manager, Helen Sierminski of Nola Sidewalk Gardens and Forests. She'll show us some local birds, plants, and maybe a few interesting people, too!
10:30am-noon | Get hands-on with a plant propagation workshop led by Ellie from New Orleans City Park Pelican Greenhouse. We'll work with inland sea oats, blue mistflower seeds, and beautyberry cuttings. If you can, please bring your own seed tray.
After the event, you can stick around for the Community Farmers Market at the church from noon to 4:00 p.m. to shop for fresh food.
See you there!
