Originally from Racine, Wisconsin 𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐦 𝐑𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬 was fortunate enough to travel to New Orleans regularly from the age of nine. Through his parents he soaked up the city’s rich musical tapestry — from piano progenitors like Jelly Roll Morton to pioneers Professor Longhair, Allen Toussaint, and Dr. John, right up to the players still reinventing Crescent-City sound today.
Adam’s main spark, though, comes from the syncopated swagger of turn-of-the-century ragtimers: Scott Joplin, Scott Hayden, Joseph Lamb, Louis Chauvin. He draws deep from ragtime’s 𝘨𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘨𝘦 (1899–1914) and occasionally wanders into the early “𝘑𝘢𝘴𝘴” that bloomed after WWI.
He recorded with a big-band jazz ensemble at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, and in high school volunteered at WWOZ’s Piano Night, where veterans like Joe Krown, Marcia Ball, Tom McDermott, Josh Paxton, Eddie Bo, David Torkanowsky, Allen Toussaint, and Dr. John carried the torch. One year he even shared the bill with a middle-school prodigy named Jonathan Batiste.
Today Adam’s résumé ranges from hotel-lobby elegance and private soirées to street-corner sessions in Jackson Square — basically anywhere a lonely piano needs a little company.
