Yippee-ki-yay! NYPD’s John McClane (Bruce Willis) battles Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) and his terrorist gang when they take the staff of the Nakatomi Corporation hostage in an LA skyscraper at an office party gone bad. It’s a Christmas movie. This explosion-happy blockbuster is “the very pinnacle of the ’80s action movie, and if it’s not the greatest action movie ever made, then it’s damn close” (Andrew Collins). Introduction by Senior Critic at the Yale School of Architecture and former Los Angeles Times architecture critic Christopher Hawthorne. 35mm print from the Yale Film Archive.
