Kulturally LIT is pleased to present our inaugural Luminary Soirée, a literary awards gala and annual fundraiser experience, honoring bold voices, creative leaders, and cultural revolutionaries shaping the literary landscape of the African Diaspora.
Held in the heart of New Haven at the Shubert Theatre Cabaret, this unforgettable evening will gather writers, artists, cultural workers, and community champions for a night of inspiration, recognition, and connection that will also help raise funds for Kulturally LIT's 2026 programming.
This year we will be honoring three Connecticut based writers:
✴ Nzima Hutchings, Literary Cultivator Award - Honoring a writer that has nutured literary growth and fosters creativity through literature
✴ Sharmont Little, Cultural Steward Award - Honoring a local leader whose work impacts and uplifts the literary arts community
✴ Marilyn Nelson - Firestarter Trailblazer Award, Honoring a CT author or writer who has blazed a trail in the literary community
✴ Tochi Onyebuchi - Literary Legend Award, Honoring a Giant in the literary world who has made significant contributions to the global community
