In honor of Latine Heritage Month, the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library invites its neighbors to explore the stories of communities with roots in Latin America that are present in its collections. In this bilingual event, guests will have the chance to view historic photos, letters, documents in Indigenous languages, newspaper clippings, rare books, artwork, oral histories, press kits from Hollywood films, and more, reflecting the varied experiences of communities both local and global, past and present. Just some of the items on display will include posters from the United Farm Workers historic Delano strikes, handmade literature de cordel poetry booklets from contemporary Brazil, and records of generations of local Latine life on Yale’s campus and in New Haven found in La Casa Cultural’s archives. We look forward to welcoming friends, families, and neighbors of all ages to this free event!
