You and your family and friends are invited to our stargazing event to celebrate the INTERNATIONAL OBSERVE THE MOON NIGHT on Saturday, October 4, FROM 7:30 PM to 11 PM.
The fun and FREE event will be at Sherrill Brook Park’s main parking lot in New Hartford, NY, Route 12 S.
Members of the Mohawk Valley Astronomical Society will have our telescopes set up on the northwest corner of the main parking lot to observe the Moon, Saturn, and many other objects in the awesome night sky. Please note: The event is weather permitting.
International Observe the Moon Night is a worldwide public event that encourages observation, appreciation and understanding of our Moon and its connection to space science, exploration, and human culture. This annual event connects scientists, educators and lunar enthusiasts from around the world.
International Observe the Moon Night is sponsored by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) mission and the Solar System Exploration Division at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, with many contributors. LRO is managed by NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, for the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
So bring along your family and friends as we join with other amateur astronomers, NASA's science team, and other observers around the world in this special event. Remember to dress warmly!
