New Glarus Silvesterchlausen

Join the Swiss Center in celebrating the New Year!

The Silvesterchlausen mummers, played by the Zuckerfluss Schuppel, will begin at the Swiss Center of North America at 2 PM on January 10th. From the Swiss Center, they will wander through the downtown area, yodeling and ringing bells. Follow them through town, or just listen for the noise to find them!

The event is followed by an evening of Swiss music and entertainment by D’Schwiizer Gruppe and the New Glarus Jodlerklub starting at 6:00 pm at The Alpine (130 5th Avenue).

Silvesterchlausen is an ancient event from Appenzell, Switzerland. Our performance in New Glarus is the only place outside of Switzerland where you can witness this ancient custom - hope you can come!
